Yes, Canadaian pay more because of higher taxes supporting Canadian socialism, but in many more cases Candaian pay more because of Canadian socialism [they payed for in a first place] that suppresses free market and eliminates competition.
Multinational banks, telecommunication companies, insurance companies are not allowed into Canada. This allows local ones that are few to get into conspiracy price agrrements and charge ridiculous prices.
Why is it I (!!!) have to pay the bank for keeping and using my (!!!) money? Why is it less expensive for an average Joe to buy anything from books to cars in the States (after paying for delivery and taxes) than to buy it locally? Aren't big dealers and retailers supposed to have an advantage of economy of scale?
The answer to all these question is simple: it's like this because Canadians at large have no choice, but to use services of a few local monopolists, who care about marker protection more than of a customer or anything else.
