While we are at it with Rogers, how about having them agree to get rid of the cash cow they have in the Monthly System Access Fee of $6.95, which I understand there is no valid reason for it. Poor Taste?

You could avoid the 'System Access Fee' by changing carriers now, Koodoo, Virgin and both Telus' and Rogers' 'Pay As You Go' don't have system access charges... :-)

PS: Rogers' even offers a $100/year Pay As You Go fee without this charge.

I don't understand it either.Every 3rd world country has cheap rate plans and im embarrassed to be in Canada and tell my friends in Europe,Asia etc that sorry i cant text because it costs me,(because for intenational text they charge more), Airtime sucks, I cant change providers easily because im stuck witha contract. All these issues and we are in the G8 nations. what a joke.

The Rogers system access fee plays a key role in allowing customers better reception. It is defined as "a fee which is used to help cover the costs associated with the ongoing operation, maintenance and upgrading of the wireless network". Loosely translated, it is a tower fee. It costs alot of money to put up new GSM cell phone towers, and also to maintain them.

The system access fee is just another money grab. Where is CRTC in all this? How are they allowing this? This should not be happening in this country. What a ripoff!!!

The 6.95 system access fee is illegal and stupid ... this is a cash grab and in the end it hurts the Canadian economy
