Since when is a town that takes 15 minutes to drive to long distance. This is 2009, not 1809, Long distance should be another country. Rogers can suck a goat.
I'm very upset here as well. I live in Newmarket and currently all my outgoing/incoming calls are local call but after Oct. 15 this year, all my outgoing calls to Toronto with my Fido Toronto number are considered long distance. Basically Rogers/Fido is shrinking the local calling area and want more money for long distance charges against our will! And I can't leave my contract without paying penalty either!!!
JP, I'm pretty sure you're one of those dumb fucking people you mentioned. The issue is that local calling areas are too small and that current technology allows us to transmit radio signals efficiently and easily enough that long distance charges are too high for what is actually being provided. Look at VOIP, you can contact anyone, anywhere without any additional charges for distances further from you (and you can even do it from smart phones). It's time that more traditional phone service providers caught up to the times and the trends (this also goes for cable providers, none of which provide an "a la carte" type service like you can get on the internet).
What I'm trying to say is that phone providers (and cable providers) like rogers need to wake up and take care or their customers if they wish to maintain their market shares in the coming future. Oh, and fuck you JP, you're what's wrong with sites and forums like this.
