It's only a luxury item in Canada. Not in the United States. Oh and Canada has the highest cell phone rates in the world. In fact, Canada is about 5 years behind the curve on almost anything with the exception of beer, cheese, and chocolate.

I'm from the States, and I can assure you it's a luxury item here.  Unless you know  a way to work around the system (and there are a couple of ways), you will be paying around $100 USD a month for a light calling and data plan, on top of the $300-$400 for the phone with a two year agreement.  Aside from some extreme exceptions, it's pretty much the most expensive service plan and phone around, just like it is in Canada.

I agree, the whole time I used to work in the Rogers wireless department all I would hear all day are the whiney mouths of people who just want more more more for less less less (perhaps free if they can get their greedy little hands on it) They completely disregard the fact that hardware DOES cost the company money ...they only see one thing: What they want.

Most of you people on this forum seem to think that the iPhone and many other wireless devices etc should just be handed to you for free ...or close to it. And if the price is a little out of your range well then you get upset and start calling Rogers greedy etc... you are also the same people who call in constantly trying to bargain down prices and threaten to cancel and go to another provider just to get a better deal.... GOD I hate some of you stupid , stupid people and your retarded mentalities...and no wonder I never gave any of you anything I felt you didnt deserve... hehe...suckers
