Hey Eddie, I did method 1 for a month, but than an inspector came an put another filter in the box, so i opened it again and what i saw was: he had a wire or a chain aatached to a filter and screwed to my hydro box. I guess thay dont wont me to remove it. I just have a qiestion does a filter send a signal back saying that it is in place or rogers knows that i'm using their cable by seeing that filter is not in place. What i did was I connected a 3 way splitter from the cable comming from the grond, then to one of them i connected filter since i hope that the filter sends the signal and it will still send it because it is connected. And the other end of the swither i connected my cable entering my house. Do you thing they will notice leackege of cable service or not? tHANKS
I also just moved into a brand new condo. There is already cable set up. Luckily my neighbour called for internet so I am still under the radar. The guy told me not to call until it was cut off but a letter just came to the "resident" stating that if I didn't call I would get stuck with reactivation fees. Any thoughts? This building is only half done.
These are great tips......by the way, why can a person not use a digital box that they bought(not rent) from rogers to get even more channels...and with analog how much channels do you get...also can you get the "door" channel in buildings with analog?
someone asked how to get that stupis f-connector type termination lock off the box. Well, here's what worked for me on several boxes. Snap one of the tines off a fork. Insert the snapped off end into the lock til it stops. Take needlenose pliers, and insert half into the hole with the tine, and have the other side on the outside of the lock. Push hard, squeeze the pliars, and start rotating counterclockwise. It takes several turns to get the sucker off, but this should work in most cases. I have (sice collecting a few of these locks) developed better methods, but you have to build tools to do it. Don't forget to keep pushing towards the box as you turn the pliars, and remember to put the lock back on, even if you only put it on loosely so you don't have such a hard time with it next time. Inspectors are lazy, and usually assume that if the lock is in place, that all is well.
