Want to get back some of your money. An eye for an eye etc.., if so heres various ways you can get free cable, or lower your monthly bill. I´ve worked for Rogers for 7yrs now installing their crap in your homes. Method one: if you have cable and internet and nothing else ( digital box, etc.) do this: call rogers and cancel your cable, say youre getting a satellite dish or something to that effect. warning! be prepared to listen to their bullshit for at least half an hour while they try to decieve and trick you into getting one of there bundles by promising you cheaper internet and lower cable fees. DO NOT FALL FOR IT. They are very tricky, be careful, they have been specially trained for this and whatever you do, under no circumstances accept a digital box, if you do stop reading this right now, shut off your computer and think of how much of a moron you are. Ok, back to getting free cable. After finally getting them to cancel your cable they will send a tech to your home. Heres a secret: your cable is not magically switched on and off from a computer at Rogers HQ someone has to physically go to your home and disconnect it, much like you connect your cable wire to the back of your tv. Once the tech arrives he will go to the side of your house to the grey cable box, there he will open the box and place a silver metal tube from the main feed to the splitter running to house. (Open the box with a flat head screw driver by forcing the box apart at the hinges, if done properly you will be able partially open it with out damaging it and still have enough room to work). This is called a filter, what it does is that it filters , hence the name, the signal so that you can only recieve about 4 of 5 canadian over the air channels while allowing the internet signal to go back and forth freely. Remove this, have a wrench ready just in case it is to tight, and reconnect the cable back onto the spitter. Presto, now you have your cable back on and are only paying for internet. Most of us techs are extremally lazy, so dont worry to much about the tech placing the filter up on the pole especially if its winter, as this would force us to unload our ladders climb 25 ft and risk our lives, just to make .50 cents, thats right theres nothing wrong with your eyes thats what rogers pays a tech to install a filter 30 ft in the air. Many techs have fallen in the line of duty installing those stupid filters. The same principles applys if your just moving into a house, dont call rogers , go to the side of your house pry open the box connect your wire, free cable. Method two: this applys to basic cable subs, or what we call in the business suckers. Repeat method one but this time you will find a red filter, remove it and you will recieve all the channels a regular sucker pays for but you will only be billed for basic cable services. This method is highly recommended because rogers will not suspect anything as long as you pay your bill. PS rogers has NO WAY of detecting if you have removed the filter because the signal is analog. Do not be deceived. Think about it, if they could they would not send someone to your house Method three: the reverse basic cable. As the method suggests, instead of removing a filter, you have one installed by down grading your full cable service to basic cable. Once you realized that you are only getting 28 channels, go and remove the filter to get your full service. FAQ time.
What happens if rogers finds out? Nothing. inspectors are even more lazy than techs. But, in the one in a million chance that an inspector actually does his job and checks your house he will just replace the filter. If he knocks on your door, and you actually want to interact with the inspector, be either prepared to be threatened and bullied or most likely, sold some other rip off service or upgrade. Remember always deny everything, act ignorant or stupid by saying things like i thought basic meant 70 channels or it was like this when i moved in. 2 classics. They will buy it because rogers thinks all subs are stupid and ignorant anyways. Tips: Under no circumstances let anyone in your house, they do not have the right. If he stills threatening you by saying he will have you charged, first remember there is no evidance you did anything wrong unless you confess, in which case your an imbecile and deserve to be caught, and second he is on your property, so YOU threaten to call the police, his supervisor and rogers to complain about his abusive behaviour. Believe me he will leave and not bother you again, because the only thing rogers like to fuck more than its customers are its employees. These methods are tried and true.
