I have acquired an iPhone from a business associate that was transferred out of country right after getting the iPhone through Rogers. Since he was relocated he was forced to pay out his Rogers contract, thus owning his phone without a contract. I went to a Rogers store, and emailed Rogers directly to ask how I get this phone on a Month to Month plan, or even just a 1 year contract. I was told that JUST BECAUSE it was an iPhone I had to sign up for 3 years. I asked them why, and they said "For teh iPhone plans, you must sign up for 3 years" I said, well what about a regular 3G Voice and Data plan, and not a specific " iPhone plan " they still wanted me to sign up for 3 years. Rogers rape strikes again. Is this legal? To force people to go on a 3 year contract due to the model of thier phone only and not because they are trying to recoop the cost of the phone? What a crock! Poor Taste?

Sure its legal. They can do what they want. The better plans require longer contracts. They have month to month anytime plans. Crap rate.. but you could go on it if you wanted.

thats a standard response. How do you think people have unlocked iphones on the rogers network? Use your logic, of coarse they want you on a 3yr commitment. Further, you wouldnt even have to get a data package, you could just subscribe to a cheap voice plan and throw your sim card into the phone. However, I do NOT recomend this approach.Pay per use data is ridiculous

they are wrong. so into a rogers store and speak to a sales rep. i am one, and it is not hard to do at all.

i hate rogers!!!!!!! i wanted (and still want!) an Iphone because my crappy nokia phone broke, i've been on my contract for a year and some months. So i thought it would be still around 99$ for the iphone 3G.... but no ... apperantly im only "half eligible" for a new phone so an iphone would be 400$ YA! and for a 3YEAR CONTRACT!!!!!!!!!!!!! and if I wan't to leave Rogers (damn straight i do!) it's 400$ to!!!!!!!!! RIPP OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
