Here are my 2 cents. A few Rogers Reps will tell you that you cannot block data on the iphone. They will try so hard to get you to get on the Data Plans. They will say that the Iphone will break the block even if Rogers put a data block. This is stupid. I am not a tech guy, but if Rogers is not giving me data, how can my phone get data? If you are not giving me service, how can my phone get the service?
I would say go for it, I emailed a couple of Rogers Reps and was told in the email that they can put a data block on the Iphone 3G. Email them, and get a confirmed email from them just in case. Let me warn you though, when you call, some Reps will tell you YOU CANNOT BLOCK DATA. If you encounter those, hang up and call again. When you have the data blocked on your iphone, try to access internet in an area without WIFI. This will let you know if you got the block or not.
Good Luck. Rogers will do anything to get you to a data plan.... Trust me, because of the Iphone I called 30 times to Rogers. They always tell you different things. If you ask them to do something, call back again 2X to see if it is processed. Cause they never process something the first time.
I don't have an iphone. i wanted one but after all i've been through i've decided I hate Rogers. I told myself i'm not gonna sign up 3 years with this company full of lies. Many of my friends got the iphone but they can't stop complaining. I will wait as other phone companies are pushing better touch screens. In Conclusion, I will leave Rogers the minute some other GSM carrier comes up.
PS- you will hear this alot from Rogers Rep: "i've never heard of that before" everytime you complain. It's in their script lolz
