As a Apple investor, and fido customer for 5 years. I purchased the iphone over the phone with fido. On the day of activation the iphone, July 15, 2008, i specifically told the fido rep that i would like to have the data on my account to be block and i was told that the data on my plan will be block. I activated my iphone and used it for one day and removed my sim and put it back on my old phone because i was being caution of how Rogers and Fido ( using tatic and trick clients into a long contact and grouted their clients for hundreds even thousands. Just so you know,I am using the North Amerian plan which is about almost $100 a month for the last 4 years with fido. Last Sunday, i decided to put my fido sim card back into my iphone and used my iphone for the Sunday, i realized that my iphone was still able to access the youtube. So on Monday, i called fido and asked them about my plan and why my phone was still access data ( youtube ) eventhough i had requested to be block. I was very upset and angry toward the saleman's attitude and his lies. ( representative from fido ). Here are the info that i got from the saleman ( fido rep ). My request for data block was meaningless, sometime it works and other it wont and i will have to be reponsible for all the data charge eventhough i asked them to block it.He insisted that my data charges will be HUGE, so i asked him about the data charges on my account and he replied, he wont give it to me and the only people can access this info are police with warrant. While imtimidated me with the HUGE data charge on my next bill, he made sound like he wanted to help me to *hook* me up with a data plan. I knew that he was lying about the data charges on my account because i did not use my iphone at all except last Sunday, for couple of hours. I told him that fido should honor their customer request otherwise fido and rogers will face many lawsuit. This is what he said to me and I quote ( we are multi billion dollar company. Do you think we care about your lawsuit ) and he repeated that since i put it like that, he wont credit a penny toward my data charge. I will wait for my first ( iphone bill to see what kind of data charges will be on there. I will not get them rip me off that easily. How can fido let someone like this rep working for them and carrying out that like of attitute toward their long term customers. This is highway robbery. We are as consumers, we have to protect our hard earn money from corporate greet. Here are some of the facts that i found out from various sourses and I would like to share with everyone and all the iphone users ( on rogers or fido customers )iphone is a heaviest data users compare to all the smart phones in the market dues to most of its applications such as, itunes, emails, stock quotes, maps, weathers, youtube, extra application like facebook or myspace ect.Even when you not using the application but the iphone was designed to send out and recive signal constantly and when it does, your data charge will be accumilated. This is one of the only way for rogers and its partner in crime fido can rob you ( consumers ) blind without any hestitation or moral. Please remember this, rogers and fido will rob you for all they can without a care in the world.
