I've been a Rogers customer on and off since 1998. My 1998 plan was MUCH better than anything they offer today. Cheaper, more minutes, and free text messaging (not that anyone else had a phone that would support it).
When I opened a new account a couple of years ago I brought an unlocked Razr with me. Naturally most of their plans were contract only, so I got screwed there. Now, when I want to sign up for an iPhone, I find out that the REAL price of the phone is $450, NOT $299 as they advertise. That's a special deal for new customers. Okay, so cancel my account. I'm contract free. Oh, but then you'll lose your number. Okay, so use number portability to transfer it. Nope, sorry, we're not actually required to do that, so we won't. I signed up with Fido instead. I know the money still eventually goes to the same place, but at least their customer service is more helpful. And I get to call up Rogers and tell them to take their service and stuff it. Hopefully that will count in the stats as a cancelled customer. I certainly don't intend to tell them who I switched to.
