I called FIDO today to enquire about the iphone. When I asked them about the warranty for the phone, they said it was for a year, but made no mention of an extended Apple Care warranty. They said that if the phone breaks down, I'd have to go to Apple to get it repaired. They also said that if it breaks down after the warranty expires, you'd still be on the hook for paying the contract for 3 years regardless of weather or not the phone lasts for 3 years. Upon further investigation, I went up to the Apple Canada site, and noticed they don't sell an Apple Care protection package for the iphone in Canada, while they DO in the US with Apple US through AT & T. After discovering this, there's NO WAY I'm buying an iphone without an Apple Care protection plan. Why didn't Rogers work out an Apple Care protection plan for their customers in Canada? Do they seriously think people are that stupid to buy an iphone without Apple Care, if it breaks down? My guess is that Apple didn't do this in Canada, because the Apple Care protection is for only 2 years(US AT & T). Given that we have to buy a plan for 3 years(Thanks TED!) we're screwed out of getting an extended warranty on the iphone. My advice would be to DON'T buy it without an Apple Care warranty!
