get the upgrade... the iPhone is worth it. I gladly renewed a 3 yr contract and 2 weeks into owning my iPhone am so happy I did. It's 100% worth it. The iPhone is better than I could have ever imagined and people who are complaining are suffering from sour grapes.  Also, it's not like they want just you to sign a 3 year contract... it's the standard deal across the board here in Canada.

ps... if you love your Mac, then you have NO IDEA how much you are going to love your iPhone. The contract, terms and rates are a completely accurate reflection of the quality of product - especially since other smart phones cost just as much or more and do way less than the iPhone.

True tell Fido to suck it. And if you have any services from Rogers cancel them too. It's they only way these jokers will ever change things. If people keep throwing their money at Fido and Rogers they will never change, or if anything they will continue to get worse.

Don't lose any sleep over something like an iPhone. Mark my words another company will come out with something better very soon. This history of electronics is proof of this.

It's no wonder that you can actually just walk in to a Rogers store right now and just pick it up with the three year contract. In reality it's a double screw you plan. One is the regular rate plan, the other is a data plan as well. Mandatory. Heaven forbid someone would want to not use rogernet and just use the wifi.

Smart phones that play music, video, surf the net, run over 500 applications,  take pictures and have GPS cost money. Especially a phone that is one of a kind and will never be fully duplicated by any other company anytime soon. If you think it will you really don't know anything about the iPhone or Apple.

I know it's a tough concept for you to grasp seeing you're so obviously stupid that you think because I state I like the phone and don't have a problem paying for it that I work for Rogers... but they do. They do cost money... and if you think an $80 a month cell bill is too much for all of these features, you should explore a less expensive phone and stop looking so pathetic.

you cannot upgrade your phone to any phone on Fido, Rogers, Telus, or Bell for the subsidized price until you are past your requirement in your contract to do so, which is usually a year. It's got nothing to do with the iPhone in particular, rather all phones. Why should they subsidize 2 phones for you in 6 months and lose money?
