The Canadian Government under Conservative PM Brian Mulroney, nearly had Canada bankrupt. Liberal PM Jean Chretien, like him or not, started to pay down our debt deficit, and within a decade of tight control on the country's economics, he brought Canada back from the brink, to a renewed prosperity. Where surpluses were realized, and our financial future looked a whole lot better. Liberal PM Paul Martin started spending again, followed by Conservative Reformist PM Stephen Harper playing for a majority government in the next election, only to go back on a Brian Mulroney spending spree, and the country be damned. What Canadians want to see, and NEED TO SEE, is the gross returns on the money collected by the federal and provincial governments posted in a public forum, thereby giving Canadians a true picture of where they stand, with regard to their governments and their finances. They deserve no less, without a public disclosure of all GST and PST values, NO CANADIAN HAS ANY VALUE OF OR WHAT HE or SHE or HIS or HER COUNTRY IS WORTH, or WHERE EXACTLY THEY STAND. How can we "stand on guard for thee," if we don't have any clue where we stand financially.
Our own sovereignty is at stake, and our governments are not being held accountable. This is the heart of the matter, and until we get full disclosure, on how much we are being taxed, we can't do very much about the companies that are ripping us off and over charging us, as they pay for licenses that that they otherwise, shouldn't warrant. Rogers and others, can charge what they like, because, like our own government, no one needs to be accountable.
