It is very unfortunate that Rogers will go to any length to RIP off it's client.

After a Hardware upgrade with the current plan. Rogers sent me my Iphone, which I couldnt do at one of their own stores.. DUH.

I got the phone which I had opted out of the Data plan, since it was a hardware upgrade. I set the the phone with my own WIFI at home and hoping that next time I use internet with Iphone will be at a cafe with free WI-FI or at home.

To my surprise, my Iphones WI-FI was OFF but when I clicked on Safari browser, Iphone still accessed the internet. AHAAAAAAAA.

I called Rogers to ask why? Thats when I got the EAR-FULL of semantics. Rogers agent very cleverly tells me DATA plan has nothing to do with internet. I listened and then bluntly told him; ok I will rephrase my question OBI-ONE. WHY is my iphone sending my safari BROWSER to WWW, when my WI-FI is AT OFF?

I realized teh converstaion with the damager (manager) at the Angrignon rogers outlet, who did not know her elbow from her rear end and it HIT me.

So I ask them to turn OFF teh internet on my phone immediately and they did. Now I will only use internet with my choice of WI-FI.

I hope this information helps other individuals who think by opting out of DATA plan you are safe.
