However, the number one issue on my mind right now is the "system access fee". What's your plan?

Ideally I'd like to get a group of people together that might take action.  I'm a nobody, you probably are too.  Most of us are.  If enough nobodies meet on a subject we can get people behind us that can make some changes.  I know the NDP is trying to make some changes to the telco infrastructure, but what exactly are they doing? Why can't we strike against Rogers? A couple hundred people blocking entrances to the head office could actually dent their business and make the media take notice.  There were stories about the various iphone petitions, but far more coverage of people lining up to buy one.  

and to more specifically answer your question, I would like to find a venue that a group can meet at every so often (probably 4 times annually).  The group would probably be small at first as most of these things are.  I would send out a press release and invite my local politicians.

Here's my take on things in detail.

I have the following problems with telcos:

1. Hidden Fees
2. Mandatory Contracts
3. Lack of Net Neutrality

More details can be found on my blog at http://vishalmalik.wordpress.com. As you can see, I desire fair business practices a lot more than cheap plans.
Here was my plan before I started talking to you:

1. Send an email to all the telcos discussing the problems associated with system access fees.

2. Send an email to new entrants resulting from the wireless spectrum auction, encouraging them to stay away from hidden fees for the sake of fairness.

3. Start a website on system access fees giving common people the ability to be aware of the unfairness and how they could help out.

4. Possibly help out with the expansion of the new "System Access Fee" article on Wikipedia.

5. Possibly ask people to cancel their services with companies who charge hidden fees.

I prefer a truthful, educational and communicative way of accomplishing things. I haven't come to point where I believe that I should launch a legal offense against anyone. Therefore, I like to stay away from courts and politicians. Rather, I like to reinforce the fact that truth is the strongest force and, in a democracy, the majority of the common people have a power that is greater than the parliament or the constitution.

Therefore, I would like to help out with spreading education about the unfairness of the telecom industry through the meetings, but not with legal proceedings. I hope you understand.
