and therein lies the problem - they are NOT selling the phone outright without a contract...so the ONLY option to get the iPhone in Canada at present is to get it only on Roger's terms, and they reserve the right to tell you that you CANNOT have one! (unless of course you fork over a whole lotta dough, start a new 3yr contract and oh of course pay more for the phone ---is this fair??)

I figure tho that Apple was prompted - after the 1st launch of the iPhone where ppl were unlocking them and shipping them overseas - to offer the phone only on contract to squash the scalping. plus, Apple probably gets a portion of the monthly fees under the 3 year contract.
Rogers, however, knowing that they are the only GSM game in town took full advantage of the situation by using the iPhone to target mainly 'new subscribers', screw all the current locked in schmucks!
