Apple is not helping Canadians. I heard that as well about Apple diverting phones. It would have been nice if Apple put pressure on Rogers or made a deal with another telco. What Apple did was make me think they don't care to much about canada like rogers. If rogers "fixes" its rates or if canadians just want to buy the iphone (which I am sure some people still will) there are just less iphones. For me to divert phones means " we will send our phones some where else intill canada gets its crap together, then we will make our cash there." If Apple put pressure on rogers it would have kept Apple's  "hip" vibe going for me. I was thinking of switching from PC to Mac, Mp3 to ipod (or Iphone) Alot of that was because of the style of the devices and the way the company handles itself, I have to admit its not all gone ( that feeling of apple trying to do well by its customers, and I know it is a company and is in the market to make cash.) but it did go down a few pegs for me. Also lets face it, if Apple came to the aid of canadians it would only be good buisness for them.

What would you suggest Apple do?  Rogers is the only GSM carrier in Canada thanks to our government that allowed them to buy Fid and also blocks foreign competition thereby creating a monopoly.  Since the iphone only works on GSM networks they had a choice to either let Rogers sell it or not sell the iphone in Canada at all.  They also likely have no control over Rogers pricing as Ted Rogers is an evil megalomaniac who cares only about his own profits.  I don't think Apple could do much more even though I wish they could.  I will not be buying an iphone even though I really wanted one.

Yes at this time Apple has done all they can, express their displeasure and not sell the iPhone in CDN Apple stores.The rest is up to the consumers to refuse to buy these lovely iPhones from the only Canadian which supports them, but which rips off customers through their GSM monopoly.
