Rogers is laughing all the way to the bank at all the people that actually bought the iPhone and monthly plan from them. They wont be getting my money. The plans are overpriced...do the math. Poor Taste?

DUDE you are so right!! i can;t believe people are stupid enough to buy the iphone either they have too much money or just don't care.. rogers and fido sold out 1st day!! wow i guess i will never be able to afford it because of these 1st day gadget grabbers :@

If items are sold out the 1st day. Consumers have spoken. The price is right and not outrageous. $199 price tag (even when you add the cancellation fee of $500 for voice and ata), $699 for a smartphone on first day is not bad. Remember how much Palm used to cost? Way more expensive than the $699. How about Blackberry? If I recalled correct they were at $299 to $399 with 3-years contract and WAY worse voice/data plans. iPhone price is great. 3-years contract... well nothing has changed in this front. $30 for data? HUGE IMPROVEMENT over what we are used to. Bravo Rogers. You are moving in the right direction.

selling out of what the 10-15 phones that they had at each store for opening weekend. and 100 tops at the flagship stores. Big deal. Selling out is only as good as the number. Its all a marketing ploy to get people worried they might not be able to get their hands on one. They sold 40 times in the US and they already had the first version and they are only 10 times the population, what does that tell you? Woop Dee Doo When gas is 2.00 per litre a year from now and they have to pay a wack to get out of their contracts then there will be resentment.

I am both a very loyal blackberry fan AND a very loyal apple fan. For 3 years I have had apple computers and blackberry phones. Recently, I retired my 4th blackberry for an iPhone. I can honestly say that I have absolutely no problem with the prices that I am paying with Rogers. The problem is most people talking about how expensive the commitment for the iPhone with Rogers, have never had a Data Phone before. What iPhone customers are getting is a bargain 6GB for 30 Bucks WOW. Blackberry customers have always had to pay a lot more than that. And quite frankly did people expect this phone to be cheap? Stop kidding yourself. For people complaining about the price and saying that they are going to hold out from purchasing it, its like having the newest BMW come out and saying that you are going to hold out because its too pricy. The iPhone is by far a lot better than other regular consumer phones on the market, it was never meant to be a cheap phone, just as Apple Computers and iPods are more expensive than their non-Apple counterparts. Apple makes quality products and you get what you pay for. Remember, an iPhone is a luxury item, not something you have to have, so if you can't afford it, don't complain that Rogers or Apple is making it too expensive. If you can't afford a nice car, do you complain to the luxury car manufacturers and their service departments and dealerships that they're making the price too high to own and operate that vehicle?Just trying to put it in perspective here. To all the people out there calling people who have bought an iPhone as losers or slaves or whatever; maybe you should start living a little and get excited about something once and a while. This phone is flat out cool, and what's wrong about getting excited about that? its no different from waiting forever to buy tickets to a really cool band that you wanna see, or saving up to buy that car that you've always wanted. This is how our market economy works! Sure there are other devices that are better, just as there is always another device that outperforms another in a certain category. As far as the hype goes I think the phone does live up to all the hype. I've talked to a dozen people with the new iPhones and they all love it. Apple did a great job, and this phone is reshaping the market. Ironically enough it has made data plans cheaper for people with other smart phones if anything! This alone speaks for itself. A product is truly great when it forces all other competition to re evaluate how they do business, and the iPhone has done just that.

My problem isn't with the price of the phone. The prices of the plans are okay and $30 for 6GB is finally more or less on par with what much of the world is doing. What I have a problem with is the extra fees (SAF, 911 fee), the nickel and dime approach to features (charging extra for caller id, voice mail, etc.) and, most importantly, the three year contract. If I walk in with my own 1st generation iphone I have to make a three year commitment to sign up to the 6GB data plan. That's crap! The contract is supposed to be for the subsidy on the phone, not to lock me in with my own hardware. I want the option for no contract or at most 1 year.

yes, my friend you are correct. no one should have purchased any iphone 3g plans through rogers. it is extremely sad that the majority of people are followers never stopping to think for themselves.
