OH LOL!
okay, let's look at it this way then... and i'll put it in easy to understand terms for you since if i use scary big words, you'll think i'm trying to be some sort of intellectual.
that's $30 ON TOP of a voice plan. with rogers plans starting out at a minimum of $20 (not including retention plans) plus the system access fee and any services like text messaging, voicemail or callerID. with just that base barebones plan you're paying roughly $57/month. also, you're committed to three more years of being under rogers thumb (so, to cancel before that, you'll pay up to $400 for the voice and $100 for the data plan)
now, the bare bones plan is their anytime plan. 200 minutes to use anytime, no evening or weekend, no special features, nothing.
i for one would much rather see that $57 go towards something a little more useful than a shiny-shiny.
and to add on to that, that $30 plan is only promotional. so, unless you get one NOW, you'll be stuck with a plan with only 300MB of data at outragous overage rates.
it's nice to know there's one more person in canada that's willing to go down on steve jobs and perform fellatio, but not everyone shares that mindset.
p.s. Rogers stock is falling and has reached $35/share as of this writing... whom do you think they're going to put those losses onto? do you think they'll make the shareholders eat that loss? what about the execs? no, they're going to put that loss right back onto the consumer.
so, you can sit back in your smug sense of self-awareness in that you're using one of the most priciest phones in history whereas i will look for alternatives and fight for change...
p.s. not everyone gets a boner for a piece of plastic and metal like you seem to be.

'p.s. not everyone gets a boner for a piece of plastic and metal like you seem to be.'
wait... then why are you here in the first place? I thought you were here because you had a boner for the piece of metal and plastic but didn't want to pay the advertised prices and want them changed.
Are you just here for emotional support of those who have a boner for the piece of metal and plastic but didn't want to pay the advertised prices?
Lucky them.
p.s. thanks for breaking down my cell phone bill for me... all these years I had NO idea how it worked.

WAIT!red! Are you sure its $57 a month with the voice plan included? Because I could've sworn it was still close to $80 even if you went on the $30 package? Froose, how much will you be paying for your monthly bill? IF I may ask, to get a better understanding of this new $30 deal. |

@Froose Hahaah, oh, you're just a darling, aren't you!
i'm here because i really don't like rogers. in fact, every time i see their stock dip, i am in stitches! it's not because of some shiny thing or whatever, it's because i have hate inside me that needs to be let out somehow. to put it bluntly, it's called vendetta.
... and i'm bored. you are providing me some excellent entertainment.
so, does that answer your question
@Mathieu: that would be if they let you pair one of their base phone plans with the data plan promotion. it says nothing about visual voicemail (the data plan is not iPhone specific, it's 3G/HSDPA specific and i'd surmise that it has nothing to do with the heat rogers is getting from the iPhone.)

yes... you may certainly ask....
ok... so my husband and I each had Razr phones with Rogers already... we have 'long distance between us' because he travels so we don't pay for calls or texts between those 2 phones. Im not sure of the voice plan we have but I know we never go over the allotted minutes. The total bill for both phones on average is $90- dollars a month. We were able to maintain the same voice plan and add on the $30- data plan which will bring our bill up to 120 a month.
Now, you may think this is expensive, outrageous and the like... but I don't.
Cell phone plans are as individual as the client that has one. Everyone uses their phone differently and has the bill to reflect it...
So... yeah... our cell bill for 2 phones (an iPhone and a Razr) will be $120- a month. I gladly pay it every month to have the service.
You may think it's too expensive, but thank goodness you don't have to pay it!
ps... also I do know we have all the bells and whistles (call waiting.. voicemail etc...) and free incoming calls
