I have been a fido customer almost since the beginning and have had a month to month contract all that time. I cannot get the iphone from them unless I lock into a 3 year contract. In my opinion they are holding me ransom. I cannot simply walk in and upgrade my phone under the existing terms on my current account. They can kiss my a--. I hope the people at apple realize that even though we are a small population, we are a large country that could really take advantage of this new technology. Our citizens are being ripped off by the company they are retailing their product through. These are usurous prices and I will not get an iphone until we get some leveling of the playing field. I will not be held ransom by Rogers for a technology whch has blossomed around the world because of lower end costs to the consumer. Only in Canada would these companies be able to go to the crtc and have these plans approved as being fair to the consumer. This whole country is getting to be a joke when it comes to all the technologies- cable-phone-wireless etc. We are royally being screwed by all of them thanks to the crtc. There is nothing at all fair about how Canadians always seem to get screwed when it comes to this kind of stuff. Why must these companies make these things much more difficult than they need to be? They're just ripping us all off.
