I'll give Rogers points for negotiating with Apple - and for widely distributing what little supply they had of the 3G to as many of their locations as possible in the GTA. The small Rogers Video @ Yonge & Lawrence - 6 iPhones - only 2 16GBs; small Rogers boutique on Avenue Road - 10 iPhones - only 2 16 GBs - York Mills & Leslies Rogers Video - 'high 20s' iPhones - 30% were 16GBs. The media was reporting between 85 & 125 units at the main Yonge & Dundas location… So, obviously they put some thought into distributing the tight supply they had for day 1. I'm sure it was all they could get…
But I suspect many people returned home after trying this morning - not necessarily disappointed if you didn't get in line at 7 AM, if you did you'd probably would have had a crack at a 16GB, or at least an 8GB…there are still some of those available - and tried to place an order on Rogers web site….
Which, despite the premium prices we pay for telecommunications in Canada, is so poorly designed it couldn't handle even basic e-commerce functions today. So we can't even place an order for an iPhone today…
If you're going to charge a premium for your services, you should have a premium infrastructure - put a bit of those fat stacks back into the system Ted - maybe you'll cut a bit of the whining down!
