I figured I would humour myself and take a look at this site. I am a Rogers employee, in fact a manager in the customer service department who has been bombarded with calls for months about the iphone.
With that being said i can assure all Rogers employees who will be handling iphone inquiries have training, more training than the people who take all the time to post things that are just absurd.
1. iphone not being sold without 3 year commitment?
Rogers has a contractual obligation with Apple to NOT sell the phone without commitment as APPLE does not want THEIR product sold outright to be unlocked and sold on grey market.
2. Data plans?
When the iphone 2G was released the average iphone user used 100mb of data a month. Rogers decided to NOT make their customers pay for somethig they were not going to use.
3. Hardware upgraded vs. New activations?
Iphones will be sold on a first come fisrt serve basis, standard upgrade policies will remain, if you have had an upgrade in the past 12 months you will not be eligible within 12 months for another upgrade.
Lastly if you just going to bitch and moan about the prices, don't buy it, there are several other options for phones and providers.
