With the announcement of the $30 6GB data plan I was all set for going ahead with getting the iPhone on release date tomorrow. I just got a call from the Rogers corp sales rep who was just informed by Rogers that they will not be allowed to sell to corporate customers yet and it may be a few weeks before they are allowed to. They were also only shipped 5% of their promised stock (Apple's redirection to Europe?)....10 instead of 200. They now expect to be overstocked with that as they lost all their business sales for tomorrow. WAY TO GO ROGERS! Poor Taste?

Makes alot of sense the demand is so high for the Iphone they can not support corporate customers at release. The rumor about stock is false, rogers has been stoking up on the IPhone for months now. Apple knew the prices Rogers was going to charge when Apple agreed to allow the IPhone in Canada. Someone who dislikes rogers made up this rumor regarding Apple not happy with Rogers. It makes Rogers look even worse. You will see tomorrow that stores have been well stocked for this release.

I don't think it makes a difference to Apple. Whether Rogers can sell the phone or not, Apple's profit margin doesn't really change much. Of course teh more Rogers could sell the more Apple makes.

I suspect that you are right and Rogers in fact diverted their own phones away from their corporate vendors without telling them why. They probably realized the demand would be so high in their consumer division that they would shift the stock away from their corporate clients. Besides, this way they can make more than twice as much money per contract compared with the corporate reduced rates by selling all their current inventory with the higher consumer rates. Just smart (ass) business.--R
