QUESTIONS FROM OILCHANGE.COM TO YOU We have received many comments from supporters saying we have to do more than just send the petition to make a difference. #1 Some have suggested there be a peaceful and organized rally / protest when we deliver the petition to Rogers. #2 There have since been other offers from Rogers competition that are more competitive and some have suggested people cancel their Rogers contracts and that we start a separate petition that keeps count of how many people have canceled their Rogers contracts. What are your thoughts? Poor Taste?

I remember years ago rogers started a reverse billing bullshit to existing cable tv customers whereby they (rogers) would just add shit to your service at their whim and it was up to you to call them and be in a permenant holding pattern waiting to talk to someone so you could cancel it otherwise it was assumed you wanted it and would be billed from then on, (nice to see their customer service hasn't changed in all those years!!) anyway the amount of perple that called them (rogers) and simply told them to shove their cable up their asses was so great that it forced rogers to scrap the billing plan, the exodus to bell express vu was so great that I don't think to this day they have completly recovered! It seems they don't learn from their past mistakes as once again they are preparing to ram a giant cell tower up the asses of paying customers without so much as a single drop of any kind of lube whatsoever! I can't wait till we finally get some relief in the way of fair market competition in this country so I (a rogers cell customer for over 10 years) can tell them to go fuck their hat!

I use a pay as you go service, but due to the display of greed on Roger's side I will simply switch from Fido to another telco provider (Virgin ?), unfortunately I will have to buy a phone which will be stuck in the US/Canada as CDMA works only there... But I will live with that.My problem is, I don't know how long my family and I will live In Canada (1 year - 15 years?) We simply cannot sign such contracts.

Canceling contracts could be a good first step, seeking the advice of good lawyers to collectively avoid paying cancellation fees would be an even better first step. But I believe the only thing that could really put an end to the abusive behavior and third world mentality at Rogers (and some of the other telcos) would be: - A real competitor (T-Mobile)- Better legislations. It is a political issue that Canadian consumers and governments should not overlook.- Hard and cold legal actions. Something like a class action from angry consumers will help for sure.
I will do the same thing here as I did in France. Every company I worked for switched (partially or totally) from France Telecom to other providers following the disgusting abuses they used to call service at the time. I personally will never go back to France Telecom / Orange simply for this one historical reason, even if they get to offer a better service, or get cheaper than competitors. I will always speak against the old monopoly holder. Now same thing goes for Rogers. I will discourage anyone and every company I come to work for from using their services. Like France Telecom they burned the one critical fuse.
After the fall of France Telecom, France went from a third world like Internet connectivity rate to Better than Canada or even the US. (20Mbps is now the norm in populated areas (unlimited data is also the norm and not the exception) 100Mbps is now available with unlimited Phone calls to 70 countries in the world, IPv6 and TV). To achieve this level of quality and development good legislations and strong (supervised) competition was the key.
So get your government to do something about the zombified Canadian telco market. Rogers abusive pricing just got a lot of attention thanks to the 1 revolutionary connected device, the iPhone. It is a chance to do more than negotiate a better plan, get a real legislation, get your government to supervise this market... It's one of the most important transport channels in the numeric age, and companies like Rogers just slow down its development and the development of its economy in your Country!

Love to cancel if another provider would pay my cancellation fee aka the "We get to screw you out of thousands by giving you another cheap phone that wont last as long as your contract anyway" fee.

Put me at the top of the list to stand in front of a Rogers rep on the day of the protest and publicly rip up my Rogers contract in front of a TV camera. I hate this company and I think their price plans not only suck, their snotty 'we cant help you out' attitude when Ive called to complain about poor service really is a kick in the head. Im generally a passive Canadian like most of us, but Rogers has me fired up and ripping mad. I hate being taken for a ride because the competition isnt offering much better in Canada, but I would switch to Koodo (Telus) They are the only ones who seem to have a half decent rate for heavy users like me, and a 1000 daytime minute plan with them would cost me about half as much as my Rogers plan.
