I am an immigrant to Canada but I ave had the opportunity to travel and live in some other parts of the world and I have seen the way business are being carried out in some of these countries. One thing common to all these countries is that the average consumer is well protected as issues botherng on contracts are fair and balanced but in Canada, it is very clear to see that the government always look the other way allowing the companies to reap off the helpless consumers. I have had the opportunity to work with some of these companies and I know they waty they conduct their businesses. The only government agency that tries to wade into contractual matters between consumers and companies is the consumer protection board, I personally feel their role should be more pro-active rather than wait until a cosumer comes to them crying foul. I would be very right to say that the Canadian government is dosile when it comes to issues concerning consumers' rights and protection, some of these types of practices can never happen in the States.
