All of you people that complain about prices of plans and such need to do your research... Pricing is and will always be based volume. The USA has10 times the population yet similar geographic distances to cover. So in the USA, a cell phone tower will service 25000 people (for example)... That same cell phone tower in Canada only services 2500 people. Yet it is capability of servicing 25000. These towers cost the same to build, operate and maintain, but don't have the same users. Canada does not have the population to get the same amazing pricing as our US neighbours. Until we become the same size as the US, get used to these prices! Companies need to make a profit or you won't have any cell phones! So stop your complaining because it is not going to fix anything. If you think the iPhones cost too much, don't get one! Poor Taste?

You think it's bad in Canada? You guys have got it good, check out the iphone 3g prices in New Zealand... $190 CAD for 1gb data, locked in for 2 years... http://www.vodafone.co.nz/iphone/plans.jsp#expander1

Not all states are heavily populated. Ontario and Quebec are heavily populated in the lower part of the provinces. Do they get a better rate ?

When you factor in the cost of towers, average cost of customer service per capita, etc., Rogers makes a massive profit. Pretty much all telecommunications companies do.

Here's an idea. How about we let the American companies into canada, we would just be icing on their cake. But wait, that would cause real competition for our canadian companies. Can't have that now!!!!!!

I've heard this argument before and it only holds true if you believe that Rogers deserves to make the same profit as AT&T eventhough it has less customers. The answer is no...they don't. They shouldn't be overcharging Canadian consumers just because there are less of us. They would still make profit, just not as much. And again, they don't deserve to make as much profit as an American company because of the market they're in.

Ha-Ha-Ha... Take this. Russia is a huge and population is much less concentrated, it's speread through all the territory and they have amazing prices, they have data planes so good that people use cells as modems. This is BS and not an argument. The real price overcharge is that fact that the goverment protecting collusion between major telco compaines and there is no real competition in this industry in Canada. That's simple. Let's US companies come to this market....
