There is a lot of misinformation about the iPhone packages and rates. First of all, you are not required to sign up for a data package to have the phone. The only restriction is that you must have a voice package with a minimum monthly fee of $30. If your current plan already meets that requirement you don't need to change anything.

The majority of customers with the first version of the iPhone in the US used 100MB of data or less per month. The iPhone voice/data packages that Rogers offers were designed to accomodate the average user. Rogers is offering four times the average data usage in their $30 iPhone data package.

The iPhone data packages are comparable to the current Blackberry data plans offered by any Canadian wireless provider. For example the $30 iPhone data package offers 300MB of data usage, as does the Blackberry data plan.

If you require more information, it's best to contact Rogers directly for the actual facts before starting petitions.

I've never developed such negative feelings for a brand as I have for Rogers. My phone is my life - I cannot switch to iPhone unless we have a sustainable affordable voiceplan.

Too little, too late.

In October, I was planning to purchase a complete bundle from Rogers, including land line, internet and personal tv. Although I've become unhappy with Bell Canada, it appears I'd be jumping from the frying pan into the fire.
Rogers hasn't caved, it's side-stepped.

Hey Micheal and Carmen... how much is uncle Ted paying you to be the Roger's sockpuppets on this site? If he's offering a 3 year term contract for an IPhone, and throwing in a 6 gig dataplan for $30 if you hurry... then you too are being screwed! Get a clue!

When a new GSM provider comes in I'll be dropping Rogers as fast as I possible can. Rogers has done nothing but lied (claiming for a many years that the System Access Fee was a government tax) and cheated it's customers for far too long. The level of respect we have been shown with the iPhone has been nothing short of bold slap in the face.

$60 for unlimited data, visual voicemail, call display, sms, etc. and a reasonable amount of minutes, and you've got a deal. Otherwise you can forget it. I'll just wait until things open up and more carriers enter the country, and then go with them. As it is now, you had better start treating your customers like royalty, or you will see them all flock to other carriers as soon as they start cropping up.
