If you read the plans carefully, you DON'T need to sign up for the custom Rogers iPhone plans to get this $30/month data plan.  You can use ANY of their existing voice/text plans for it. 

I agree, I would have liked the plan to have unlimited data.  Even if it were to cost 50/month for unlimited data, i would get it.  BUT, 30/month, +25 for an average, not extremely large voice/text plan puts me at around 55/month, with 6gb, I can deal with it.

I would LOVE unlimited data, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen.

What does this mean for new customers?

Since the new plans all have some sort of data plan integrated in them, does that mean this will be an additional $30 dollars on top of those special 'iphone' plans??

Just a play on words and a new juggling act on the part of Rogers, not really offering anything of substance. You are still bound to a three year contract.They are looking to play last minute games with the mumbo jumbo of their numbers, only to try and generate some excitement prior to the launch, as if they had attended to our wishes and demands. Which they have not yet done at all. 

In ATT the limit for there unlimited is 5GB..so we get more

There is no such thing as "unlimited" data. Although AT&T claims "unlimited", there is actually a 5GB "soft cap" on the plan. If you go over it, they can revoke your access.

Its progress, but not nearly enough. Unfortunately, I dont think Rogers is going to give us anymore considering there really isnt any competition for them to worry about. With the CRTC on their side, there really isnt any legal ramnification to worry about either...
