This new offer from Rogers is still rediculous. Minimum plan is $60, plus $30 for data (only 6gb) and then you have the illegal costs like access fees, 911 fees, etc. You will never see a cell bill for less than $125 with this thing, and that is with a small amount of minutes, only 6gb of Data and still no extra features like voicemail, call display etc.

Like I said, rediculous. Go check out the Samsung Instinct instead. Bell

The deal breaker for me is the 3 year contract.  I can live with their costs even if they are a bit on the high side.  But I refuse to sign my life away to Rogers for 3 years.  I would probably do 2 years but that is even pushing it.  Give us options for shorter contracts at a higher price for the phone.  Rogers is just using the popularity and demand for the iPhone to lock people in.  If they can offer other phones on shorter contracts or even with no contract they could have done this with the iPhone.

Why can't we do as well as South Africa?  In South Africa, you pay nothing to receive either voice or text.  Contracts are not required.  Anyone can buy a phone card and enter the number into any phone, thus enabling it to receive and transmit.  This is better than the USA, and is the only sensible model if complete coverage of a population is to be achievable.

Absolutely agreed to the points above. STOP RIPPING OFF CONSUMERS !! AFTER ALL THEY ARE ONES WHO ARE LETTING ROGERS SURVIVE !!

It comes down to two things for this: 1) competitive pressure and 2) our own fault for letting the industry get such a great ride for so long.  If there's no pressure to force them to lower their plans, they're not going to. So what if people complain. Ultimately, they're stuck with Rogers (or telus or bell)...it's not like there'a Verizon up in Canada. So complain all you want, the CEO of Rogers (or telus or bell) will not ever be in a position to actually change their prices drmatically..  #2) i think Canadians have been lazy in the sense of not fighting back sooner. We put up w/ their horrible plans and fees cause we don't know any bettor, nor did we put in any effort to find out anymore. Good to see a site like this up to change this.
