I was interested in the new Iphone until I did a real comparison between the plans offered by Rogers and by Bell. My experience is with the family plans as my fiance only wants a "regular" phone.
Rogers: $55 for 2 lines 500 shared minutes Free Evenings at 9pm Bonus 1000 text messages + $35 "Value" Pack 500mb unlimited texting, call display, voicemail, etc. + $25 same as above but with data +$14 ($7x2 - Early evenings at 6pm for two accounts) +$14.90 ($6.95x2 + $0.50x2 - System Access and 911 Fee for two accounts) =$151.10 Total with GST (Alberta)
Bell: $45 450min Free Evenings at 9pm Bonus of Nationwide FAB5 or Unlimited Incoming Calls or Free Evenings at 5pm + $35 Fun Pack or $45 for Unlimited Data 500mb
unlimited texting, call display, voicemail, etc. + $20 Fun Pack Same as above but no data but select radio and TV + $14.90 ($6.95x2 + $0.50x2 - System Access and 911 Fee for two accounts) = $120.65 Total Including GST for 500mb or $131.15 Unlimited Data
So for $30 less I can go with Bell and lose 50min but have free evenings at 5pm or for $20 less on Bell I lose 50min, free evenings at 5pm and have unlimited Data. (Oh and a little hint if you're with Bell and your contract is going to expire. You could choose the FAB5 or Unlimited incoming and they'll throw in free evenings at 6pm for free with are normally $7 per person)
Looks like the Palm Pre will be my next phone and Rogers will lose two potential customers.
