Absolutely true! What is Canadian work experience when you get your first Canadian job?

Very true. What's so special about "Canadian Work Experience"? I have worked in Canada for more than 5 years now and I can confidently say that it's anything but special. It's just a job that requires certain credentials and skills. It doesn't matter where you got it from. And if that's an issue, there is something called "Probation Period". If you're not fit for the job, the company lets you go and hires another one. So what's the big deal????

As a Canadian I expect to be spoken to and understood correctly in English and French if you live in a french speaking country, ability to communicate is essential, and if you can't communicate, it only pisses people off and reinforces stereotypical views of foreigners. If you want to live and work and Canada, then learn to communicate in english, and not just speak english, otherwise don't bother coming, if your too lazy to work at it. And yes accents are an issue for some, but they can be overcome through speech therapists, and practice and practice and practice.

@Prinec: Accent or no accent, there is a probation period where the employer decides if he can understand and communicate well with the employee or not.

I totally agree that accents do become a major problem when it comes to communication. Personally, I am a Canadian immigrant and many people don't even realize that English isn't my first language. I am a Palestinian (Arabic is my first language) and I have been working for more than 5 years dealing with customers on the phone and in meetings without people having difficulty understanding me or communicating me in general.

My point is, no all immigrants do have a horrible accent and can cause communication problems. Hire them, then decide if they will be an issue.

To all who were not born in Canada. Please see the comments recently made in Austria that is making news all over the world. Millions are in support of this statement, and millions more will be as soon as they here it.
As for equality, if your ways are better where you came from, please PLEASE go back. There are too many unemployed "CANADIANS" and hundreds of thousands being laid off due to the sinking economy in Canada and the US. If we could give the existing jobs to OUR PEOPLE FIRST this country's economy would bounce back quickly.
