It's possible that Rogers had this in mind all along, it's also possible they didn't count on the backlash. This could be a small concession. If you can activate on any rate plan and get access to visual voicemail it may be a good alternative.
It's quite possible after the promo runs out they could drop rates further to ire early adopters. Personally it seems like a small concession, but they will time limit it so they don't have to give everyone a good rate. The Promo will stifle may complaining about unlimited data, as their 6Gb package previously for business was $100. so this is a deal over that. I doubt many people will go over 6Gb on an iPhone as I don't do 6Gb on my home internet (when i'm not downloading bittorrents and such) I seriously doubt any of the current cell providers will come into alignment with the US until the new US and european based wireless providers set up shop and start undercutting them. All we can do is fight for the best deal we can and run with it. Check out your plans carefully as not all plans include in network calling or free incoming minutes, voicemail, or call forwarding. 6Gb worth of Data is a good start though. Lets hope it sweetens in the next few weeks. I will still be boycotting myself, but hope we can all get a better deal.
