I've ordered an Neo Freerunner phone by Open Moko (http://OpenMoko.com phone. It's fully open source in that all the software is open for users to see and play with and modify if they want. When the google Gphone comes out this handset will run that software. The next model will have EDGE.

I just wanted to point out after seeing some of the comments about using Koodo, or Solo. Koodo is owned by Telus, Solo by Bell, so if you do decide to switch, remember you are still supporting the same companies, it's the same as Fido/Rogers.

I don't know if it is true, but I read somewhere the Virgin is majority owned by Bell, but I'm not sure on that one.

Why don't you approach AT&T and see if they could do something for over 100.000 CAD customers? Am sure they can do no roaming and workout something with local numbers....

Rogers offered us what they thought most of us would be OK with. Why? because this petition did not say what exactly is it that we wanted! We did not have one voice to speak for us, to represent us.

The petition creator used our emails (remember that spam test we had) and then sold the ruinediphone.com to a business man for an undisclosed amount of money. So there isn't that much trust here.

And since this was an online petition it could not carry as much weight as paper petition.

Rogers gave us what they thought they could pull off.instead, and frankly lots of people will be ok with 6GB. This petition has lots of numbers yes, but is poor in content...

I've had a cell phone through Bell for the last 2 years.  Good service, and a great plan.  I get a Corporate plan because I work for a national retailer, but it's not a hassle to get onto the plan at all.  Just proof of employment (i.e. payslip) and you're good to go.  It's $20/month, unlimited incoming texts, only 200 anytime minutes but I don't talk enough to worry about that, and unlimited weekends.  Also, voicemail, caller ID, call waiting, and no system access fee.  ALSO - I have never been charged a moment of roaming, and I've travelled across the country!  The only thing that bugs is the 3-year commitment, but even then, I'm eligible for an upgrade after 18 months.
